Anis Mansoor from Sharjah with just 25 hours of in-flight training makes his name to become one of the youngest pilots in the world. Mansoor at present is only 14 years of age and is an Indian citizen raised up in Sharjah is currently in the lime light for making his way to be the youngest aviator.
Mansoor Anis resides in Sharjah with his family who migrated from India. Anis is enrolled with Delhi Public School and has begun his ‘training’ at the age of seven being introduced to a computer flight simulator by his New Delhi-based maternal uncle who comes to be a professional pilot recruited by an India-based private airline.
“My maternal Uncle started training me with the simulation software to fly a plane and since then I’ve have been curious to fly an aircraft”, reported Anis.
Mansoor being 13 years of age decided to pursue flying as his professional career and had traveled to Canada with his mother to begin his pilot training at the AAA Aviation Flight Academy in Langley located in British Columbia.
At early days of Mansoor in AAA flight academy, his academy’s chief flight instructor (CFI) opposed to enrolling him in the flight school, being way too young, but he then analyzing Mansoor’s keen and curiosity towards aviation was amazed and had supported him for his aim.
“At first, the CFI wasn’t ready to take me. But after my first flight, he was very excited to teach me because he found that I knew much and learned fast,” he said. “But it wasn’t so easy. Flying is a different feeling than the simulator.
“What I had learned from my uncle helped me a lot,” Mansoor added. “For example, there were some theoretical things, like with the instruments, that he had taught me to use beforehand.”
Mansoor single handed took over the cockpit for his first solo flight in a Cessna 152 on August 30 this year.
“I was a little nervous, but I was ready to fly. I was excited,” he said. “The flight was about 10 or 12 minutes and I enjoyed each of the moment the experience still strikes my mind. I was nervous to land the aircraft. I found landing to be the toughest procedure. It took me plenty time to learn to land the aircraft properly.”
Mansoor mentions that he is very much motivated and excited with the overwhelming response he has received from his friends and family.
“Making your family proud towards you really makes you feel delighted, my family and friends are really proud of me, and I feel lucky. “They now want to see me in school.”
I am brimming with pride to my son’s achievement states Mansoor’s father Ali Asgar Anis.
“I am really very proud of him, and I feel like I’m in the sky. It’s a fantastic feeling for any father. I am speechless to describe my joy,” he said.
Mansoor has broken the record for the least amount of training time acquired by any young pilot prior operating a solo flight; the previous record was 34 hours, Anis made it in just 25 hours.
Ali also stated that the family has also filled out the forms for making Anis name listed in the Limca Book of Records, which celebrates the achievements of Indian nationals in India and abroad.
Aircraft is a drug to me so I am dedicated to being a pilot, Mansoor said, “he has no doubt that he will take up flying professionally”.
My aim now is to fly for Emirates and Etihad. Piloting an aircraft is my dream job.
“It’s fun while you are up in the air flying an aircraft, you actually don’t need to be scared and shouldn’t give up easily,” Mansoor advises other youths.
