Pending documentations results delay for Yeti Airlines to bring its first ever ATR 72-500

Yeti Airlines, one of the oldest and competent airline companies of Nepal, is nearing to take the delivery of first ever ATR 72-500 aircraft in its history. Ground Handling Manager of Yeti Airlines Bhim Raj Rai said, “The officials from the airline have already departed to Singapore so, we are expecting to receive the aircraft soon.” It will probably take two to three days more due to the pending documentations process, he added.

Previously, Mr.Rai informed that a minimum of two weeks will be required after the arrival of ATR 72 to achieve Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and initiate commercial operation. He also said, “The Company has no any plans to add new routes so, the ATR 72 will operate flights to current destinations.”

The aircraft is currently with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) based in Singapore which provides aircraft leasing solutions to a wide range of airlines globally with its active fleet of over 350 aircraft. Yeti Airlines claims the ATR 72 with the age of 8 years is the youngest of all ATR aircraft in the country.

Yeti Airlines will be the third ATR aircraft operator in the country after Buddha Air and Necon Air. Being a well-established reputed airline of Nepal, Yeti (established on 1998) currently owns seven Jetstream 41s aircraft and serves 10 major destinations of Nepal.

The ATR 72-500 series aircraft is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner manufactured jointly by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR.
