Qatar Airways has been titled ‘World’s Best Airline’ by Skytrax World Airline Awards as per the voting from travellers around the world. The Skytrax is a UK-based consultancy recognized for its Airline and Airport Star Rating. Also it runs an airline and airport review and ranking site.
The Gulf-based airline was presented with the honor at World Airline Awards at the Paris Air Show 2017 on Tuesday. CEO of Qatar Airways Mr. Akbar AI Baker said, “It is a very proud moment for Qatar Airways to be named the World’s Best Business Class, the Best Business Class Airline Lounge and Best Airline Staff in the Middle East by the prestigious Skytrax Airline Awards, not only for myself, but for every individual at Qatar Airways who creates the passengers’ experience.”
This is probably a huge boost for Qatar Airways as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain slashed all the diplomatic and economic ties with Qatar and excluded all the Qatari aircraft from their airspace after rising of major safety concerns regarding Qatar’s link with terrorist groups.
Due to the ban imposed, Qatar Airways has to take long routes to continue its long-haul flight operations. The Doha-based airline is bearing the loss of almost 52 Gulf flights every week which accounts for 30 percent of its revenue. UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are the destinations from where Qatar Airways derives 18 percent of its capacity.
The official website describes Qatar Airways as the youngest global airlines to serve all six continents and connecting more than 150 destinations on the map every day with the latest and advanced aircraft.
Akbar AI Baker also said, “Our goal is to make Qatar Airways your airline of choice, offering the flights you want to the destinations you need. That drives this team of more than 40,000 professionals every day, and will continue to motivate us to make Qatar Airways your only airline.”
