May 27, 2017
Goma Air LET 410 aircraft with registration ‘9N-AKY’ crashed at Lukla Airport three hours ago. The senior Captain Parash Rai has been killed in the crash while two others (first officer Shreejan Manandhar and an Air Hostess Pragya Maharjan) are injured.
The aircraft unfortunately collided with trees while it was shortly landing on the runway. The rescue team was immediately dispatched from the airport.
The two helicopters are in a standby position to airlift injured crews to Kathmandu however; the adverse weather conditions at Lukla has been denying the flights.
