What are the Biggest Challenges to be faced by aviation industry in future?

Aviation has become the most reliable and safe mode of long distance travel. The industry is rocketing with introduction of new modern aircraft and technologies. More than 100,000 flights happen per day all over the world.
According to IATA (International Air Transport Association) 20-year air passenger forecast, the number of global passengers is expected to be over 7.2 billion by 2035; nearly doubling 2016’s 3.8 billion. That’s why airlines take delivery of tens of thousands of new commercial jetliners over the next 20 years.
To maintain and operate tens of thousands of jets, 558,000 new commercial pilots and 609,000 new maintenance technicians will be required over the next 20 years (according to the Boeing Company). This is the biggest challenge for the aviation industry.
Air transportation is believed to be safest mode of long distance travel but it does not mean that there are no accidents in aviation industry. The report of last year showed that 3.8 billion people flew safely on 40.4 million flights. In the year 2016, 10 fatal commercial plane crashes took place killing 268 people. So, safety is also the desperate challenge for aviation industry in coming future.
Although the air incidents are investigated with sheer excellence however; there were lots of incidents at past and completely mystical. What happened with MH 370 and then MH 17 is absolutely unprecedented in aviation history till today. Aviation is the industry which generates huge data. Daily flights happening around the world produce enormous amount of data. Moreover, every governments, airports and air navigation service providers also contain aviation data. Besides, aircraft and parts manufacturers secure important safety data. So, it is challenge to IATA (International Air Transport Association) and all other authorities to manipulate such enormous data to enhance aviation safety.
Aircraft manufacturers today produce more fuel efficient and powerful jet aircraft however; it will not stop degrading the environment. The impact of aviation towards the environment occurs because of Aircraft power plant which exhausts heat, noise, particulates and Hazardous Substances which leads the surrounding to contribute to climate change and Global Dimming. Some of other aircraft emits particles and gases such as Carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxide, water vapor and black carbons which interact themselves between the atmosphere resulting the deterioration of the environment. So, aviation industry must act accordingly to excel forward with keeping environment safe otherwise it will compel the industry to plummet.
Hence, Aviation industry can only be sustainable if it enhances its profitability, continues to be safe, reliable and create positive impacts on environment. Moreover, the industry must take keen focus on passenger experience too.
