Update about crashed EC-130 belonging to Mountain Helicopter

Eurocopter EC 130B4 with registration ‘9N-ALQ’ belonging to Mountain Helicopter had met an incident on  September 25  last year during the airborne from Lukla Helipad and made a force landing at Jubing during medical evacuation mission and  commanded by Captain Suraj Thapa and had  other four passengers onboard.

The Helicopter at present remains grounded. The incident was investigated by the Engineering teams and investigations officials from CAAN but the report of the investigation has not been reported yet.

Later, on in December 05, 2016 after three months of the incident the damaged wreckage of the crashed Helicopter was transported to East Helipad Tribhuvan International Airport via MI-17 Helicopter of Shree Airlines with registration ‘9N-AHT’ under the command for the sling operation a Turkmens pilot Captain Kolesnikov Vladimir and the aircraft had landed safely at TIA on 11:05 NST on the day.

As per preliminary information, failure of engine has been suspected to be the major cause for the crash; however the details information still are under cover.

Till date, no any investigation report has been published by CAAN. The EC-130 B4 helicopter remains still grounded at TIA East Helipad.  Neither Mountain Air the air operator nor the Aviation Authority are concerned in to finalizing the investigation report about the incident.

Er. Bidhan Shrestha, Senior Officer of Airworthiness Inspection Division for CAAN flight Safety Department stats that all the investigation report has been ready and soon it will be published.

The Eurocopter EC-130 B4 is a single engine light helicopter manufactured by Airbus Helicopter manufacturer. The Helicopter was remanufactured earlier as AS350 Ecureuil from which primary changes were the adoption of a fenestron anti-torque device in place of a conventional tail rotor. It was launched and produced by the Eurocopter Group.
