The meeting was held with domestic airlines about the persisting air traffic issue. According to the TIA’s spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur, the airport management committee conducted meeting especially to address the current air traffic problem and encourage airlines to conduct night flight to those airports equipped with night landing facilities. He also added that the increasing air traffic will be effectively managed now onwards.
Recently the airline operators in Nepal have been conducting scheduled night flights to Bharatpur, Nepalgunj, Simara and Biratnagar. This initiative has been supporting smooth flow of air traffic. There has been some difficulty in conducting night flights to Biratnagar as the airport is under some maintenance. Thakur said that the international flights have been operating smoothly, however; traffic in domestic flights require some improvement.
Mostly, the increasing air traffic in Kathmandu has been affecting the flight operations in Pokhara, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa.
