Remote Lukla Airport facing parking and technical problem

 January 22, 2017- Lukla

Tenzing Hillary Airport, located in the remote Lukla and one of the most dangerous airport around the world as well as hub for trekkers in the tourist season has been facing parking problem constantly. The airport, which is at high elevation, has small parking space which is quite a trouble say the officials stationed there.

The airport has also facing flak recently for the unavailability of the announcement system of the flights which has created trouble for the travelers there as they cannot find the exact aircraft through which they would travel.

“There had been technical problem due to burning of wire due to which the system has not been in function” said one of the higher officials there.

“Likewise, the airport has not been maintained for quite some time due to unavailability of budget”, added the official.

“As the airport is in such a remote place, raw materials are hard to find, and if they are made available, workers who can do are not available.”

The airport which is a big tourist hub, especially in the season conducts flights numbering about 80 to 90 within a day. Right now due to off season, the airport has been conducting some ten to twelve flights daily out of which Tara Air conducts four to six flights, Goma Air conucts two to three flights and Simrik Airlines conducts two flights daily.
