Pilots with Air France airline Transavia call for Christmas strike
BBC – 22 December 2016
The pilots of Air France who have been working on the company’s budget airline Transavia declared for a strike over Christmas which will eventually disturb the festive mood of thousands of passengers.
The period of strike is from midnight December 23rd to midnight December 26th which includes Christmas weekend when many are up for travel.
Out of Transavia’s 260 pilots, around 100 are essentially employed by Air France, but are commissioned out to the budget airline, which was created back in 2007.
This group of pilots has called for strike action to put pressure on airline chiefs to lodge their wage burdens. They also want to make it calmer to reappear to working for Air France full time.
Transavia’s management condemned the effect the strike action could have on its passengers over the Christmas period.
“Our teams will be prepared to minimize the problem for passengers,” a statement said.
But the company said it was assured it can grasp a solution through negotiation without the strike act going forward.
