Six officials of the national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been suspended over the technical glitch on the aircraft on which Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was onboard.

Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon said that ‘human failure’ has been recognized as the key reason as per a statement on Wednesday.

The officials are engineering department’s SM Rokonuzzaman, Samiul Haque, Lutfur Rahman, Milon Chandra Biswas, Zakir Hossain and Technical Officer Siddiqur Rahman.

On Sunday, the prime minister and her associates had to squander for four hours in Turkmenistan on their way to Hungary after the Biman aircraft carrying them made an emergency landing at the Ashgabat International Airport.

The civil aviation ministry, Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB), and Biman had formed three committees to look into the incident.

Minister Menon presented the Biman investigation report facing the journalists at the press conference.

He said the blunder occurred after ‘nuts at the fuel line of the plane had loosened’.

“The Biman chairman said three factors were thought-out – whether it was a technical anomaly or environmental issue (like extreme cold or storm) or whether human factor was involved,” Menon said.

“They have recognized human failure aspect as the key reason,” he added.

The minister had vowed to spot those accountable for the occurrence and take action in opposition to them before the prime minister’s revisit. Hasina left Budapest for Dhaka at 3:15pm (BdST). She is prone to arrive at around midnight.

“It’s only a groundwork report. In cases of VVIP, the airliner is handed over to the defense personnel a day in advance. Principally those who were in charge at that instance (of entrust) have faced the stroke. It will be apparent who were chiefly accountable once we get the complete report,” Menon said.
