Maintenance started at the only runway and the taxiway of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)

The runway and taxiways of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) which have been in dire condition for a long time have started getting scheduled maintained from today. After the recent earthquake in April, the spaces for air travel and parking have been facing constant cracks and potholes.
The maintenance was initiated after a staff meeting was held following the visit of Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, Mr. Jeeban Bahadur Shahi whose early morning visit to evaluate the runway created some stir in the airport and questioned the management.
The maintenance has been scheduled till 6:00am after the airport gets closed at 12:30 am but in case the work doesn’t complete on time or the patches doesn’t dry out, the taxiway would be closed for some more time while the runway would not operate in case potholes are seen and patching would be required as informed by Mr. Prem Nath Thakur, the spokesperson of TIA.
It is a great initiation towards the maintenance of the runway and taxiway as they happen to be crucial parts of any airport and have invited problems and accidents due to lack of concern towards it.
