The government of Nepal has allocated NRs. 8 Billion for the Pokhara Regional International Airport project. Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada presented the budget for this fiscal year yesterday.

The runway construction of Pokhara International Airport (PIA) has already completed. The construction is expected to complete by 2021. More than 35 per cent of the overall work of the airport has been completed as per the latest report.

It has been expected that the construction would complete before deadline if the work goes with the current pace. Chinese Company CAMCE was handed over the responsibility of the project on 12th May 2014.

CAMCE has committed to complete the project by 10th July 2021 and hand it over to the Government of Nepal.

CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone of the project in presence of other opposition party leaders on April 13, 2016.

Boeing 757 and Airbus 320 would connect Pokhara with other international destinations after the completion of the project.

One of Nepal’s National Pride Project is being constructed in 3627 ropanis of land at Chinne danda in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City. The construction started after Exim Bank of China provided a loan of NRs. 22 Billion for the international airport project to the government of Nepal.
