50% Off in Domestic Ticket for 70 and plus senior citizens; new work plan introduced in Aviation

Newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has published the ministry’s working plan and focused task for the fiscal year of 2076/77. The work plan consists of 141 different tasks to be completed by ministry under different topics of Cultural Heritages, Tourism Year 2020, Civil Aviation, Nepal Airlines, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and so on.

The Civil Aviation work plan have been divided into 13 different tasks including the construction of Nijgadh International Airport to providing 50 per cent concession for elderly citizen of age 70 and above on airfare of domestic tickets. The up gradation of TIA also has been included in the work plan with the focus on effective use of all the airports around the country. Minister Bhattarai has also included a task of upgrading and using Ramechhap Airport as the nearest airport from Kathmandu to accommodate the traffic congestion at TIA.

Similarly, Nepal Airlines service is to be smoothened and all the ticketing system is to be brought in online system according to the work plan. The airline is to add international flights to Riyadh of Saudi Arabia and Guangzhou as mentioned in the work plan. The plan also includes up gradation of Duty free shops in TIA, maintaining a garden at the previous parking area of TIA, upgrading of the luggage claim conveyer belts, automated walkator and escalator connection to the terminal and parking. All the tasks of converting TIA to a boutique international airport is to be completed within assigned time according to the task force.

Nijgadh International Airport has also been put in the focus in the task planning. The alternative spot of tree plantation is to be identified and tree plantation is to be done. The land acquisition process and compensation distribution is to be focused on. The authority is also focusing on co coordinating with the ministry of Forest for the cutting down of trees and clearing of area for the construction of Nijgadh International Airport in Bara.
