45 more days for BB Airways to own NAC’s Boeing 757

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has allocated 45 more days for BB Airways to pay the due amount for Boeing 757 ‘9N-ACA’. Previously, NAC granted 7 days for BB airways to come up with the due amount for the finalization of purchase deal however; BB airways did not show any concern or came in contact with NAC.

NAC’s spokesperson Rabindra Shrestha said, “After the end of deadline for final payment to be made from BB Airways, we instructed the company to replenish the full payment within a week. The representatives from the airline interacted with us and the agreement of additional 45 days for the remaining payment was done.”

BB Airways with intension of buying the aircraft had submitted a payment of 10 per cent of the total amount (Rs1.5 crore) on 13th of October 2017 promising thereby to fill the full payments within a week from the date.

The flag carrier had set 1.71 million USD price ‘Karnali’ however, the corporation had planned to sell its 30 years old Boeing with the minimum sale price of 1.5 million USD but still no bidders were willing to buy the aircraft at that amount until President of NRNA (Non Resident Nepali Association) Mr. Bhawan Bhatta decided to acquire it for his BB Airways with an amount of Rs15.18 crore.

BB Airways had previously started its commercial flight on 8th Bhadra 2069 to Malaysia from a leased Boeing aircraft and all its operation was shut three months later. The airline is expected to come back to operation after accomplishing the purchase of this aircraft.
