The recommencing flight of Summit Air to Suketar Airport could not be done from today as expected, due to the weather condition of the airport that deteriorated resulting the cancellation of scheduled flight. The flight was scheduled long time after the airport closed its operation due to technical reasons of airport and airlines and was expected to re operate with recommencing flight of Summit Air today.
Suketar airport came into operation again after its runway was upgraded a while ago. Though the airport came into operation early, no flights were conducted due to airlines not being able to operate. Summit Air and Nepal Airlines operate to the airport however due to maintenance problems; they were not being able to operate.
Summit airlines was recommencing the flights from today, October 1, 2018 but the obstructed weather condition affected the flight. Officials at Taplejung airport stated that,” The flights were expected to recommence from today however adverse weather condition has affected the flight.
Previously, Summit and Nepal airlines were conducting the flight to Suketar but were halted due to runway project of the airport and as well as the airlines not being able to operate due to maintenance problem of their aircraft.” He also added that Summit air will be commencing the flights with its LET-410 aircraft whereas Nepal Airlines flight is unknown as the twin-otter is currently under maintenance.
