TIA facing insufficient parking areas for International carriers
November 8, 2016-Kathmandu
The Sole International Airport, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) today suffered the problem of insufficient parking bay towards the international ramp since 12:30 PM ( Nepal Local Time), resulting the no parking space to others aircraft if arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The airport consists of single runway including the eight parking bay towards the international ramp which today was full due to two new aircraft of TCS World Travel which landed at TIA at around 12:30 PM. The TIA witnessed severe air traffic congestion due to increased movement of larger jets, placing air traffic controllers under heavy pressure. Due to limited parking bays, a number of aircraft have been parked on the taxiway sometimes.
Presently, about 30 international airlines connect Nepal to destinations in Asia and the Middle East, and the airport serves as a hub for several Nepalese airlines. This shows the airport short should upgrade rapidly.
